Repeal the Online Safety Act.
Platforms hosting lawful content must be shielded from government pressure to censor. We would require transparency in content moderation and prohibit state-directed takedowns of legal speech.
The Online Safety Act law threatens the integrity of investigative journalism, whistleblowing, and political debate.
Fears of liability lead to over-moderation, driving smaller players out of the market and empowering Big Tech.
A Restore Britain government would therefore repeal the Online Safety Act. Any Labour VPN ban would also be immediately reversed.
Reverse as Much of the Lockdown Legacy as Possible.
A Restore Britain government would quash all convictions for non-violent breaches of lockdown rules (e.g. leaving home, attending protests, running a business). We would ensure that no one has a criminal record for breaking laws that should never have existed.
We would make targeted changes to Britain’s ‘state of emergency’ legislation in order to render future lockdowns near-impossible.
Lockdowns took an especially devastating toll on the flourishing and prospects of young people, who deserve to be compensated in some form. It is beyond the wit of any government to reverse all of the damage inflicted by a near-total freeze of society and a spree of mass money printing, but as much of that damage as possible must be reversed.
Last of all, there should be an independent review of SAGE predictions and data used to justify lockdowns, complete with unredacted access to all relevant modelling and communications.
Launch an Independent Inquiry into COVID-19 Vaccines.
We would establish a truly independent inquiry into the safety, rollout, and long-term effects of the COVID-19 vaccines, especially on young people and those coerced into taking them.
Thousands of people have suffered serious side effects, some permanently. We would overhaul the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme, increase payouts, and speed up claims. Proper compensation must be provided to the families of those who lost their lives due to the vaccine.
A Restore Britain government would publish all relevant communications from politicians and 'experts' that led to the mass vaccine rollout and vaccine passports. Politicians like Reform UK’s Nadhim Zahawi will be forced to appear before an independent commission to be questioned on their actions during lockdown.
Restore the Right to Self-defence.
Law-abiding citizens must have the full legal right to use reasonable force – including lethal force if necessary – to protect their home, family, and property from illegal intruders without fear of prosecution.
Self-defence protections must apply wherever you are fairly protecting yourself, your family, or your property.
Legal ambiguity must be dispelled. The law should respect decisive action in moments of fear, not presume to judge split-second reactions with hindsight.
We must re-affirm the so-called castle doctrine: your home is your sanctuary, so you have the right to defend it.
Block the Introduction of Digital ID.
Digital ID is the policy of a low-trust, fragmented society. It is not in the interests of the British people or in keeping with our long-standing traditions for the state to have such an excessive level of involvement in the day-to-day business of citizens.
Digital ID opens the door to other anti-freedom policies such as Chinese-style surveillance, a social credit system, and central bank digital currency.
Digital ID is presented as a solution to issues like illegal immigration, but if the problem were tackled at source rather than treating the symptoms, such an ID would be unnecessary.
Laws must be passed to prevent the introduction of compulsory digital ID. Once it is imposed, there is no going back.
Revive Britain’s Finest Free Speech Traditions.
In Britain, our finest free speech traditions have effectively been eroded by invasive modern statutes. We used to rank alongside the United States, which took its own free speech traditions from us, as among the freest countries in the world. That status has given way to a culture of safetyism and censorship.
A Restore Britain government would place our finest free speech traditions on a strong statutory footing, guaranteeing that lawful expression cannot be criminalised or censored by the state or private platforms.
This should be done in tandem with a thoroughgoing attack on existing anti-free speech laws – a problem that goes as far back as at least the 1960s, with the birth of “hate speech” and “incitement to hatred” laws.
Our common law traditions around speech have always erred on the side of freedom. Boundaries are essential. Without them, civilisations collapse.
However, the boundaries on speech in Britain today are excessive, ideologically motivated, unfairly applied, and do not protect the interests of the British people.
The laws infringing on free speech must be repealed and new ones passed that restore Britain’s finest free speech traditions.
